Waiver Wire: Week 10

I'm going to use the intro here as my editorial rant. Waivers this week are insanely important.  In all the leagues I compete in, this is the last week for add/drops, and it's time to punt seniors if you are 3-6, and it's time to add some depth if you own A.J. Green and Randall Cobb in an SEC-heavy league (who has a bye in week 12?)

But before I go any further with who you should add, I'll tell you who should be cut.  Randy Shannon and anyone else Hurricane related.  I was in Charlottesville for this past weekend's debacle and I simply can't stomach this any more.  Yes, the team was shellshocked after Jacory Harris was destroyed.  But for far too long it's been different characters playing the same role for the 'Canes. Unmotivated, uninterested and inconsistent.  In no way, shape or form do I condone illegal activities, but this administration seems so enamored with Shannon's ability to scare his players into behaving that it may be best for someone to break a few rules, cast a dark shadow over the program, and allow some house cleaning to take place.  Where are Lamar Thomas and Randall Hill when you need them?

OK, rant over, let's find some free agents.

BCS

Nathan Scheelhaase, QB, Illinois - Here is what you need to know: the schedule reads @ Michigan, Minnesota, @ NW, bye, @ Fresno. Coming off a 195-yard passing, 118-yard rushing game, the redshirt frosh looks ready to keep the production coming against soft defenses.

Cierre Wood, RB, Notre Dame - The Irish are off this week, so obviously there is no instant gratification.  But with a starting QB and starting RB both out for the season, Wood is a must add.

Cyrus Gray, RB, Texas A&M - 29-219-3. Those are Gray's totals over the past two weeks.  I can't say he was totally sharing duties with Christine Michael, but now he certainly isn't.  Michael's broken leg means Gray should be good for 15-20 carries, 80-120 yards and at least a score each week.

Jeff Maehl, WR, Oregon - Good grief.  Maehl has a ridiculous 26 catches, 371 yards and five touchdowns in his last three games.  No more commentary required.

Chris Rainey, WR, Florida - This isn't what I was referring to with the Randy Shannon rant.  Because if Rainey played for my favorite team, and was actually still playing for my favorite team, I'd be embarrassed.  But, if he is going to win me a fantasy league, so be it.  He might be eligible at WR in your league, and had 16 carries last weekend.  Find me another wide out who can get you that many touches, and the schedule still includes Vandy and Appalachian State.

All 120

Bryan Ellis, QB, UAB - I don't know when David Isabelle is coming back, or if it will matter.  What I do know is Ellis has nine touchdowns over his last three games, and matchups with Rice, ECU and Memphis on the horizon.  It doesn't get much easier.

Lennon Creer, RB, Louisiana Tech - Is there a hotter running back in the country right now?  Creer has 448 yards and six scores over the last three weeks and still has New Mexico State, San Jose State and Nevada left to shred.

Orleans Darkwa, RB, Tulane - Looks like most everyone, I gave up on the rookie once he was banged up.  Well 50 carries over the last two weeks tell me Mr. Darkwa is healthy, and should immediately get back in your lineup.

Kelvin Bolden, WR, Southern Miss - DeAndre Brown might be on his way to becoming the next Randy Moss.  It will be interesting to see if he plays again this season. The 6-foot, 160-pound Bolden hopes he doesn't, as the junior is enjoying quite a productive two weeks.  Like 18-286-2 productive.  There is no reason to think that slows down anytime soon, so play the hot hand.
