Good morning college recruiting fans and those in the Midwest buried in snow. While I know most of you will be feverishly clicking refresh on sites like Rivals.com and Scout.com -- or better yet watching seven streaming hours of Rich Rodriguez on CBS College Sports -- we wanted to whet the appetite with a few things to watch for today...
Isaiah Crowell, RB - One of the top running backs in the class of 2011 is down to Auburn, Alabama and Georgia, with Auburn getting the last visit last weekend. I would lean toward Georgia, but like we said last week, never underestimate the power of the final visit. He's expected to make his decision at 1:30 p.m. Prediction: Georgia
Jacoby Brissett, QB - The top rated uncommitted quarterback on the board. His most recent visit was to Miami, but he's also considering Florida and Wisconsin. Brissett is expected to forgo the signing day hat shuffle and make his decision after his basketball game on Friday. Prediction: Miami
Michael Eubank, QB - Teams were quick to vulture early Pitt verbal commits during the recent coaching turmoil. Now the Panthers might be looking to exact some revenge as they look to steal Eubanks from Arizona State. Utah is also very much in the mix, making for some signing day drama for one of the top quarterbacks in the country. Prediction: Arizona State
Cardale Jones, QB - Here is an interesting kid to keep an eye on. He has Big Ten talent but most signs point to him heading to Toledo. This would be a good get for the Rockets and one fantasy owners would need to watch down the road. Prediction: Toledo
Nikolas Brassell, WR - Mississippi and Mississippi State have been locked in a bloody recruiting battle that has seen more flips than a flap jack (yes that was bad). Brassell was considered an early lean to the Bulldogs, but Ole Miss and Alabama have been making a push. Prediction: Ole Miss
Devin Lucien, WR - With Norm Chow bolting to Utah and Rick Neuheisel's head firmly on the chopping block, UCLA has struggled on the recruiting trail. Lucien would give the Bruins something to be excited about. But Colorado, Utah and Arizona State are in the mix. Prediction: Colorado
Jadeveon Clowney, DE - The consensus top prospect for 2011, Clowney is a beast of a defensive end. South Carolina, Clemson, Alabama, LSU and Florida are all in the mix. Clowney is not expected to make his decision on NSD, but rather on his birthday Feb. 14, but you just never know. Prediction: South Carolina
DeAnthony Thomas, CB/ATH - The burner from Los Angeles gave USC fans a mild heart attack by visiting the Nike compound in Eugene last weekend. Thomas will most likely play corner, but he'll be one of those guys that will get some touches on the offensive side of the ball as well. Prediction: USC (NCAA sanctions be damned!)
Cyrus Kouandijo, OT - The consensus top-rated offensive lineman (see hulking man pictured to the the right) in the country has fans from Iowa, Alabama, Auburn and New Mexico (one of these things is not like the other) on pins and needles. Prediction: Alabama (Saban doesn't believe in signing limits).
Happy signing everyone and keep an eye out for our conference and positional breakdowns in the coming days.
