The Big Ten has announced its new conference alignments which include a division featuring Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin, and a division featuring Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Northwestern.  Cross divisional matchups: Illinois-Northwestern, Indiana-Michigan State, Ohio State-Michigan, Penn State-Nebraska, Purdue-Iowa and Wisconsin-Minnesota will also be protected each year.

The conference elected to not go with a geographical split which would have likely ended up with a competitive imbalance. The new divisions appear fair and balanced to this Big Ten fan.
