While at Northern Illinois, Jerry Kill did not use the tight end for much more than an extra blocker but he certainly recognizes what he has in Eric Lair at Minnesota. Lair will not just be an extra blocker as the staff will line him up all over in order to create some mismatches. "They don't want to keep me in the same spot," Lair said after practice Thursday. "I like it. It doesn't give the defense a chance to key on me."
Lair could be a nice safety valve for new quarterback MarQueis Gray as well as a dangerous option in the redzone.
