Earlier this spring, playmaking wide receiver Curtis Drake broke his tibia and according to head coach Joe Paterno, will miss all of 2011. Added to the injury list is tailback Stephfon Green who injured his right shoulder on Thursday. Green was expected to contend for carries with Silas Redd after backing up Evan Royster for so long.
With Drake out, expect Devon Smith to see more work and while Green is a speedier option than Redd, there is no doubt that Redd is the present and future of the Nittany Lions' backfield.
