With Alexander Robinson gone from Ames, the Cyclones have some big shoes to fill but head coach Paul Rhoads is not worried. Rhoads believes that Shontrelle Johnson can carry the ball up to 20 times per game. Johnson is a Robinson-like 5'9, 182 pounds but says "I'll be ready to carry the load. I've definitely gotten a lot stronger and faster." The Cyclones also have 6'0, 232 pounds battering ram Jeff Woody to help shoulder the load.
From a fantasy perspective, it is always a good thing when you hear a head coach talk about a particular number of carries he see his back getting. While there will certainly be a learning curve for Johnson and the offense, he could end up being a surprise commodity.
