Of all the tailbacks that are vying to replace Chad Spann, it was Jasmin Hopkins who caught the eye of new head coach Dave Doeren. Doeren said "I’ve been really impressed... I think he’s just been super consistent." Jamal Womble came into the spring getting the bulk of the first team touches but now is working with the second team while Cameron Bell has seen some time filling in as a blocker for injured tight end Jason Schepler.
If something isn't figured out soon, we could be headed towards the dreaded committee approach. Either way it shakes out, both Hopkins and Womble will get touches because of their contrasting styles.
