Coming out of the spring, true freshman Vernard Roberts topped the West Virginia depth chart at running back but the battle is far from over.  Sophomore Trey Johnson currently sits at No. 2 on the depth chart and says, "My goal for this summer is my lateral movement, going side to side.  I know I can strike real good, but I don't know if I can cut side to side real good."

Johnson is in the same mold as Roberts as a scatback-type back, so it may be hard to earn carries outside of spelling the true freshman.  However, the starting job will not be settled until the end of summer camp so the opportunity to win the job is still present.
