New Mexico QB B.R. Holbrook should be cleared to participate by Aug. 3. That's the word from coach Mike Locksley during the MWC media days. Holbrook is rehabbing a knee injury and didn't participate in spring work.

Locksley said Holbrook at Tarean Austin will now battle for the starting quarterback job now that Stump Godfrey has transferred. Both started a times a year ago and both will go into fall camp with a chance to win the starting job.
