Texas Tech true freshman receiver Javares McRoy, who transferred from Florida last spring, was ruled ineligible for the 2011 season because of standard transfer rules and will redshirt.
McRoy followed his brother, James, from the University of Florida to Lubbock and despite not playing a single down, he is being forced to sit out the season because he was enrolled in spring classes in Gainsville. He will have four years of eligibility beginning in 2012.
