Former top recruit back as a walk-on

It has been a long strange trip for Boise State walk-on running back Malcolm Johnson. A highly-sought recruit in 2009, he was suspended for the 2010 Fiesta Bowl and didn't work with the team during the fall. He was ruled academically ineligible and went back to Oregon to go to junior college.

Johnson rushed for nearly 7,000 yards as a high-schooler, but is returning to Boise State as a walk-on and will be part of a backfield with only four scholarship players, Doug Martin, D.J. Harper, Raphiel Lambert and Jay Ajayi. At this point, it's about Johnson working his way back into the program.
