The backup quarterback job for USC is becoming quite the battle. Current No. 2 Jesse Scroggins sat out Tuesday's practice with a thumb injury, giving plenty of reps to true freshmen Cody Kessler and Max Wittek.

Matt Barkley is the man, but is one injury away from coach Lane Kiffin calling for a backup. Scroggins has been very solid in camp so far, but if the injury puts him on the shelf for any length of time, the fresh faces will get their chance to step in.
