True freshman tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins is one of three very young tight ends trying to make the position relevant to the Washington football program again. Seferian-Jenkins, redshirt freshman Michael Hartvigsen and walk-on redshirt frosh Evan Hudson are battling for the starting spot and playing time for the Huskies.

Coach Steve Sarkisian admitted that Washington operated at times a year ago without any tight end. Seferian-Jenkins was on a lot of radars as a senior in high school and certainly possesses the skill set to make this position his own. He may have some growing pains and may have to share initially, but he's so talented it seems that will last only a short time.
