Coach Rocky Long said his defensive line is thin -- and just got thinner. Projected starting defensive end Larry Gibbs will be out for several weeks with a foot issue. Apparently, he broke the foot in last year's Poinsettia Bowl, but was given the OK to start practicing. He will be weaing a protective boot for the foreseeable future.

Junior defensive lineman Fredrick Trujillo is suffering from a bad back. With those two on the sidelines, the Aztec defensive line rotation consists of two seniors and a bunch of freshmen.
