During Saturday's New Mexico scrimmage, the unanimous vote was the Lobos defense has gotten better and took it to the offense. Linebacker Spencer Merritt and defensive end DeShawn Mills each had an interception during the scrimmage.
Obviously, the Lobos are looking for improvement defensively after a 2010 season when everyone rolled through them -- sometimes at will. Coach Mike Locksley said it "was not a good day for the defense." In the hunt to be more athletic and add speed on defense, you've got to believe New Mexico will show improvement this year.
