Nevada coach Chris Ault confirmed that receiver Brandon Wimberly is out for the year after being shot in the stomach. "He's definitely not playing football this year," Ault said of Wimberly. "I expect him on the sidelines and I expect him to give our football team a reality check about how lucky they are in this day and age to be playing football, to have the opportunity to go to a great university and get an education and how almost unlucky he was."

The good news is Wimberly finished up summer school and appears to be ready to lead a normal life. Without Wimberly, the Wolfpack passing game will have to lean on Rishard Matthews this fall.
