During practice this week, UAB running back Dontavius Jackson has stepped up and taken control of the backup job behind Pat Shed.
Jackson is battling Greg Franklin, Darrin Reaves and Bashr Coles for the role but given his standing (a junior) and solid preseason performance, he is likely to land the job. Given the wide open nature of the Blazers offense, he is one backup to remember as the season starts.
