With Chris Polk mending, Jesse Callier is the lead back for the Washington Huskies and he's playing like it. Callier had a number of good runs during Monday's practice, including a darting blast right up the gut for a big pickup.
Though Polk's knee procedure was simply to clean up a little mess in the knee, it's likely that he'll sit the season-opener against Eastern Washington. That means that Callier could be in line for a very big day -- unless the blowout commences quickly and it becomes a game of subs. Callier is playing well in camp and should see carries once Polk returns.
