Freshman DT cleared to play

Texas Tech freshman defensive tackle Delvon Simmons has been cleared to play by the NCAA after his eligibility for the 2011 season was in doubt.

Simmons was a big time recruit out of high school and originally landed at North Carolina, but he was granted a release and ended up with the Red Raiders. We'll see what kind of impact he has - Simmons has been practicing with the team already.
