Michigan coach Brady Hoke told The Detroit Free Press that senior running back Michael Shaw is likely to start the opener against Western Michigan.
While this doesn't mean that Shaw will serve as the Wolverine top back all season, there is a chance that he'll post decent numbers against the Broncos. The thought here is that Hoke will look to make a old-school Michigan statement in the opener, and a punishing ground game will go a long way towards doing just that.
