There were several new faces at wide receiver for Texas Saturday against Rice, including sophomore Mike Davis (3 catches, 115 yards) and Jaxon Shipley, who lived up to the hype with 54 yards and a touchdown.
Shipley's score came on a trick play where freshman receiver John Harris tossed a 36-yard pass. The Longhorns showed some wrinkles in their offense, including a wildcat several times in the red zone to keep the defense off balance.
