Oklahoma State starting free safety Johnny Thomas has been ruled ineligible for the 2011 season. Thomas is one of the Big 12's top safeties and it's a tough loss for the Cowboys' defense.

Thomas does still have a redshirt and will probably elect to use it this season so he is eligible to play next year. He was also one of the team's primary kickoff return men, so he will be sorely missed in more ways than one.
