California coach Jeff Tedford said that receiver Kaelin Clay won't accompany the team to Colorado. The "academic issue" that Tedford pointed to also kept Clay out of the season opener.
Clay has shown well in fall practice, but his chance to get in on the rotation is being hurt by his lack of participation. He's a player who, if he can get into the game, can be a big play guy with Marvin Jones and Keenan Allen.
