Despite throwing for a paltry 60 yards in four quarters Saturday in the loss to Washington State, UNLV quarterback Caleb Herring is in no danger of losing his spot. Coach Bobby Hauck said that for a young quarterback like Herring, getting as many game reps as possible is key to his development.

Hauck said the coaching staff had talked about using backup Sean Reilly a little bit when the games got out of hand, but decided Herring needed the reps. For all the struggles, Herring has gone two games without a turnover -- not a bad thing for a young quarterback.
