New Mexico backup quarterback B.R. Holbrook came off the bench in the second half to throw for 289 yards and two scores -- twice bringing the Lobos back from 14-point deficits in the fourth quarter before falling in overtime.

Holbrook, last year's starter, lost his job this fall to Tarean Austin, who wasn't horrible (13-of-22-148-2) in his two quarters-plus of action. In the end, though, the Lobos turned to Holbrook for a spark as the deficit mounted, and he responded. Now the question becomes who starts the next game?
