After originally thinking he would be redshirting, Central Michigan freshman running back Anthony Garland saw his first action of the season Saturday at Michigan State, carrying seven times for nine yards.

Head coach Dan Enos thought he ran hard, and should have been rewarded with better statistical success.  With Zurlon Tipton done for the year, and Tim Phillips more of a scat back, Garland and his 6-foot, 220 pound frame are worth watching.  Maybe he can be the spark the Chips so desperately need.
