Virginia Tech's defense was gashed on the ground last week against Miami with 236 total yards rushing. One of the big reasons was injuries to defensive end James Gayle (ankle) and linebacker Jeron Gouveia-Winslow (foot).
The Hokies have been stout against the run until last week. They simply aren't deep enough to sustain injuries to the front seven and it showed in the second half last week.
