For the first time this season, California backup quarterback Allan Bridgford has a real chance to see playing time. With starter Zach Maynard struggling with interceptions, Bridgford is getting more practice reps and could be the guy Saturday against Washington State.
There's been no definitive word from coach Jeff Tedford on the starting job, but the chatter for Bridgford has begun to heat up. If called on, Bridgford said "it would be super exciting and I'm ready for it." Stay tuned on a possible quarterback competition for California.
