Arizona lost two quarterbacks to transfers today -- former Rutgers transfer Tom Savage and freshman Daxx Garman. New coach Rich Rodriguez's spread option offense isn't seen as a fit for Savage or Garman.
Savage, who arrived barely a year ago after showing such promise at Rutgers, is much more of a pocket quarterback than Rodriquez's offense really likes to use. With Senior Matt Scott redshirting and the likely starter in 2012, the Wildcats don't have any other scholarship quarterbacks on the roster right now. Savage said that family concerns are the prime reason for the transfer.
