Oregon State defensive coordinator Mark Banker is one of four finalists for the head coaching job at Hawaii. A story in the Honolulu Advertiser lists Banker with Texas assistant head coach Duane Akina and Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, along with a fourth unnamed candidate, as being contacted for interviews.
Despite the recent lapses defensively, Banker has a reputation for building good defenses out of players who aren't blue chippers.
