Wyoming freshman quarterback Brett Smith had a rough bowl outing in Saturday's loss to Rutgers in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. Smith was 20-of-30 passing for 127 yards, two touchdowns, but three picks.
Smith was under pressure a lot in this one and really struggled to get the ball down the field, particularly with a nonexistent running game. Smith was the leading Wyoming rusher in this one with 65 yards on 16 carries. A tough go, but plenty of valuable experience for a darkhorse quarterback moving forward.
