After FIU head coach Mario Cristobal turned down Rutgers' offer to become their new head coach, athletic director Tim Pernetti didn't waste much time filling the vacancy. Kyle Flood, formerly the offensive line coach and promoted to interim head coach after Greg Schiano left for Tampa Bay, had the tag removed late Monday night.
Flood's hiring could help Rutgers keep the majority of their recruiting class intact, as some of the best high school coaches in the state have voiced their approval of the decision. Having a face current and prospective players know should help with National Signing Day being less than 24 hours away.
