California quarterback Zach Maynard may have quite a fight on his hands to retain his starting job in 2012. Maynard, who was certainly up and down this season, will have to fend off the challenge of highly touted Zach Kline this spring. Kline is the kind of quarterback coach Jeff Tedford likes and the coach said Kline would get his chance this spring.
Maynard had some good moments in his first season at the helm, but Tedford comes with a rep for developing quarterbacks, something he really hasn't done since Aaron Rodgers left in 2004. Kline will likely get every opportunity to win the job, so expect this to be one of the better quarterback battles in the Pac-12 during the offseason.
