USC quarterbacks Max Wittek and Cody Kessler have both had good moments this spring in the battle to backup Matt Barkley. A third promising quarterback prospect, Jesse Scroggins, seems to be continually beset by struggles and issues -- thumb injury last fall, hip issues early in spring, etc.
While Barkley will be one of the best quarterbacks in college football -- and a legit Heisman threat -- it should be noted that he's one play away from taking a seat. Who will be the guy that takes over if Barkley is hurt? That battle is heating up this spring for the Trojans.
