Virginia Tech running back Michael Holmes had his best statistical performance of the spring in Saturday's scrimmage, finishing with 89 yards on just eight carries.

Afterwards, head coach Frank Beamer offered, "I've said from the beginning that I thought Michael was going to be good. He's learning, but when he gets out there, he's running away from people. People can't catch him. he's a big body. He runs with power. I thought he could cut it loose a little more at the line of scrimmage, but overall, I think you've got to be impressed with Holmes." Holmes stock is rising by the day, and it will be interesting to see where he's drafted in August. Right now, I'd feel safe with him as an RB2, with the possibility of RB1 upside.
