In what is a surprise to everyone except for Kevin Sumlin, Johnny Manziel was named the team's starting quarterback over Jameill Showers.
Manziel was considered the underdog mostly due to an earlier arrest but apparently outplayed Showers enough during camp to merit the starting job against Louisiana Tech.
