It looks like Shawne Alston will start the season as the Mountaineers starting running back and Dustin Garrison (knee) could redshirt.
During a recent interview on Siruis XM, coach Dana Holgorsen talked about the powerful Alston helping the team inside the red zone. He was banged up last year, which opened the door for Garrison and a number of other freshman. Alston might be a red zone threat, but I just don't see Alston putting up big rushing numbers. Losing Garrison's speed would be a big blow.
