Newly named Kentucky head coach Joker Phillips will pick up right where Rich Brooks left off: with a quarterback battle on his hands. Now it appears there are three in the mix for the Wildcats quarterback job. Mike Hartline and Morgan Newton, who both saw snaps under center last year, will be joined by redshirt freshman Ryan Mossakowski.
If Phillips can narrow this battle down to a single starter by fall practice then the Kentucky quarterback starter could be a sleeper fantasy pick in BCS-only leagues next year. The Wildcats are returning virtually all of their offensive weapons.
