Last pick in a Keeper Draft

July 16, 2012

Question

Hey guys,

New year, new problems. I once again have the last pick in the first round, but have basically lost my entire team after winning the title. Full on rebuild mode here.

Right now My roster has 7 players, in a 20 player keeper league.

QB: Tajh Boyd, JR-Clemson
RB: John White, SR-Utah
RB: Willie Carter, SR-Tulsa
RB: Dominique Whaley, SR-Oklahoma
WR: Darius Johnson, JR-SMU
WR: Darrin Moore, JR-Texas Tech
WR: Ross Apo, FR-BYU

As you can see, it's Senior Heavy, and not very deep.

What kind of stratagy would you suggest here? I have to add at least 1 QB just so I can have 2 starters...even if it's a SR.

But I feel I need more options at WR for sure, and RB wouldn't be a bad add either.

Looks like Tyler Tettleton,Jordan Lynch, Both Oregon QB's, Kain Colter, and Blaine Gautier(LA LF) will probably be available.

Kenjon Barner, LeVeon Bell, Kerwynn Williams, and Ka'Deem Carey will be available as well. Maybe FR Keith Marshall and Micheal Holmes will be there as well.

At WR Justin Hunter is available, but will be gone by my pick I suspect. All the Toledo WR's are availble, as are DeWayne Peace of Houston. Trey Metoyer from OU is intriguing as a FR, but so is Greenbury from Toledo as a FR.

I know that's alot of stuff, but I'm really just looking for a general direction that you think would be best to proceed in.

I appreciate all the help!

Answer

My main league is a keeper league I don't worry too much about being senior and drafting for youth till the later rounds. Draft to win.

With that I would take Tyler Tettleton or Kenjon Barner in round 1. They are both 1 year rentals, but who cares.

Round 2 either Jordan Lynch, Kain Colter or LeVeon Bell. Depending on who you take in round 1. Bell is probably another one year rental.

Overall, I think you need WRs the most, but these guys are too good to pass up. Go after some youth at WR. See the sleepers and keepers in the draft kit or some of the picks I made in the Athlon Mock Draft.
